Internet Scriptures Could Be A Poisoned Chalice

A discussion with any writer – whether start-up or seasoned – would leave you informed that writing is never a free walk in the park as it may seem as you read somebody’s published work.

Whether it is writing an autobiography, a motivational book or simply a newspaper article, the exercise is usually very taxing. However, in this age virtual libraries on the internet have become ‘reliable’ sources of information for many writers. As such, biblical scriptures and powerful sermon messages lie just a click away.  However, the emerging trend in which we are becoming more trusting of what we obtain from the internet has inspired great fear in me. Indeed, I see danger.

Computer technicians, for instance, consult internet time to time either to download software or learn how to troubleshoot new devices. But as they do so, they would not fall for anything from any site other than their carefully selected and trusted ones. These technicians know something; that what you obtain from the internet can on a bad day write the obituary on your career.  And there is no exception for Christians like you and me.

Christian should know that not all Christian websites are as Christian in their hearts as they may appear at a quick glance. It is a fact that Satan is bad; he steals, destroys and kills, but Satan is not foolish – I’m sorry to give him credit on this. He knows how lazy Christians have become today and how they have grown to trust the information and data that they collect from the internet. As such, his agents obtain the Word, defile it and make it readily available to us on the internet. And as unsuspecting as we have become, we ready jump to copy-paste the contaminated scriptures and twisted teachings and use them in books, church publications and sermons.

Well, I shouldn’t sound as discouraging use of internet for spiritual growth and spreading of the gospel. Of course I admit that internet is one of the most powerful tools Christians can use today to learn, teach and strengthen their faith in Christ. However, I caution against giving everything, especially bible scriptures from the internet a clean bill of health.
For those who feel that sourcing from internet is a must do thing because it saves time, it would be better to find out from fellow Christians who may be on the know about websites run by know Christian organisations.

Never forget that with Satan always at work devising new methods to deceive Christians, one does not necessarily have to stop praying to fall into Satan’s trap, but one lazy act can seal your fate.
